Mourning over our sins and the fate of the world lost in sin is a characteristic of those who are living the Kingdom Life. God comforts those who mourn because they, like He, know the pain of a broken heart.
There was a large crowd gathered, but only the Disciples approached Him as He taught on the mountain. Very often the many gather, but the few draw near. God has called us to draw near and perhaps only when we are poor in spirit does the Kingdom have meaning.
Joseph is listed in the Faith Hall of Fame, not for any of the faithful actions he had taken during his life, but for the instructions he gave about his bones at his death. The reason was that these instructions would provide his people a tangible symbol of the faithfulness of God.
Perhaps the most difficult act of Christian love is to forgive those who meant to do us harm. Joseph demonstrates Christ's love in forgiving his brothers....God asks us to do the same.
