This isn't a comment it is a question:

the Bible says

God is love.
God is a jealous God.
Love is not jealous.

Huh? Is there some sort of different meaning to the two "jealous" words in original text that is lost in translation or does this just have to remain one of those things that make you say hmmmm?

I really am interested in finding this out - I'm not trying to cause any existential meltdowns or anything.

Jeannie,
The Hebrew idea of jealous to explain God's love means that He is passionate and zealous over what is His....His Children. He will not stand by and allow us, His Bride to be seduced and taken captive by sin or the enemy. This is a good characteristic reminding us of God's eternal love....however the translation in our English Bibles is bad.
The Greek idea of jealousy in the bad sense of 1 Cor 13 is very different. this is more of an envy over someone else's gifting or talents, even possessions. But it is wanting something that does not belong to you.
God's Passion for your soul flows out of a selfless heart. Man's jealously for what is not his flows out of a selfish heart.
I mentioned these aspects in a sermon and if i can find it i will get it to you.
Thanks for your comments

Thanks for taking the time to answer that, Kevin. It does help me. I'd love to here the tape of the sermon if you come across it. I imagine you are a bit busy now (congratulations on the birth of your beautiful baby!!) so I hope you don't knock yourself out trying to find it. Thank you again.
